Personal Independence Payment helps cover the extra costs of living with a disability or long-term condition. It is not means-tested, so your income, savings, or employment status do not matter. You can work full-time and still qualify.
01PIP has two parts: Daily Living and Mobility
02Each part pays at a Standard or Enhanced rate
03Weekly rates from April 2026: Daily Living £76.70 (standard) or £114.60 (enhanced). Mobility £30.30 (standard) or £79.70 (enhanced)
04PIP is based on how your condition affects you, not your diagnosis
05You do not need a formal diagnosis to apply, but it helps
06PIP will not affect other benefits you receive
Upcoming change
From November 2026, new claimants must score at least 4 points in one single daily living activity (plus the existing 8-point total). This particularly affects neurodivergent people who may score 2–3 points across many activities. Apply before November 2026 if you can.
